History

The Chosen One

It was inevitable.

The little glimmer in his eye that said, “It’s coming, soon.”

He was the youngest, the most naïve of the two. He believed whatever was spoken to him. “We are the new. We are better.” He said, to anyone that would listen, because as far as he knew they were better. Better than every being that breathed in this world. He was said to bring the world from darkness and into peace and happiness, and once he was old enough that was exactly what he set out to do. His tribemates believed that he was the chosen one just as much as he did.

He lived in a place where the sun spread its rays over the land for days on end, that was until his brother became jealous. Jealous of his bright fur and sparkling topaz eyes. Jealous of the affectionate look that crossed every elders face when he spoke to them. He was the love and life of Otech, never letting a mortal die without a reason. He wanted to preserve the most precious thing in the world: life. Everyone loved him for that, thus they looked to him with respect and affection.

The dark warrior did not let this go unnoticed. He became nasty, to not only others but to himself, and with that he seemingly disappeared off the face of the world.

The Dark Prince

Years passed, and everyone seemed to forget his name. His brother had ventured the barren world, gathering followers and trusted allies. He formed lands and territories and took his place as leader of the new world, naming it Oetch in which he said meant “Golden Future”. Ironic, since his future held nothing but darkness and death.

Unlike his brother, he did not see life as the most precious thing in the world. Rather, he saw it as finite, something that needed to end in order to have the cycle continue. He didn't like the fact that his brother was always there, attempting to save some mortal meeting their demise. He was creating an army to have his brother see this, even if it meant killing the chosen one.

Then, as it seemed like nothing could go wrong, the dark warrior made his appearance once again. Covered in wounds and scars, he pillaged territories, taking out the strongest with an army of willing soldiers behind him. His brother, on the other hand, dealt peace with a simple flick of the ear. He was in no way prepared for what was coming, but that stopped nothing. His plan to darken the world was already in motion, his moves stealthy and strategic, his eyes set for the throne. It was his for the taking.

It was a bloody battle, beast against beast, brother against brother. The King, as smart as he was, knew that this war would be the destruction of the world he has built up from the ground. He did not show his face on the battlefield, but instead stayed hidden in a crypt below his kingdom. His actions were cowardly, but he had a greater image. The sun would live in the sky for years to come.

A Sky Full Of Stars

His brother, however, was not stupid. He’d sniffed him out, cornering him in his own home. No words were spoken, none needed to be. Just them in the darkness with no light to show the emotions running across their faces, and for a moment the dark wolf had broken… But he didn’t. Growling, scratching, kicking, biting, and then silence. Neither brother had been seen exiting the crypt, and when some mustered up the courage to venture into it there were no bodies to be found. A mystery left unfinished.

The morning after, when the wolves of Oetch recovered from what they had just endured, the sun rose with such grace and pride that it almost seemed that their King was chasing after it, slowly pushing the sun across the sky, bringing light wherever he went as he did in his mortal life. Things couldn’t have gotten any better for them, as they knew their leader was watching over them during the day. But when the sun fell, the moon took its rightful place in the center of the sky surrounded by hundreds of billions of stars. All they saw, however, was the now half blinded shell of a once great warrior, covered in chains, dragging the solemn moon behind him.

The Present

The present takes place ten years after the Great War, when peace has finally pushed through the land of Oetch. However there cannot be good without evil, yes? Something bigger is coming, the animals can feel it. Can you?
