WELCOME!

Welcome to Primal Minds' Guidebook! This guidebook is one of the most important things that you will read on this entire site. It will give you the low-down of how we run things here, and it should help simplify everything for you! If you look to the left of this little box of information, you will find the links with all of our site information! If you click those links, it will bring you to the information of your desire!

I will be staying here the whole time, so if you need to take another look (or just want to) feel free to!

We would like to note that you DO NOT need to read all of the information! The links under the name "Needed" are what are most important when looking throughout the site! That area will have all the information that you require to register your character! Once you click that link, below this box all of the information will appear!

Once you complete your reading and you still have questions, please look to our FAQ or PM a staff member with your questions!!!

Happy reading!

Newbie Guide

Registering

Yes, us admins know that there is a lot of information on the site. Of course we do, we made it all! In light of that, we've come together to make a fully fleshed out guide so you can easily navigate Primal Minds without any hassle. ^^

Thinking of joining us? That's great! Before you do, make sure you've read all of the , history, stats, and magic system so you have a basic understanding of what's going on here ^^

If you've read the rules and are ready to join, there are two buttons on the left sidebar in the first box. One says 'login' and the other says 'register'. The button that says register is the one you're going to click. After you click it, it'll take you to a page to insert your email, basically all you have to do here is insert your email. If you already have a proboards account, it'll automatically sync it and all you need to do is make a username.

Once you've finished everything, check the box and click that register button and BAM! You're officially a member of Primal Mind's community!

*Be sure to make your OOC account soon if you didn't make it first, so you can role-play!

Setting up your profile

Now that you've registered, it's time to get your profile situated! Now, here on Primal Minds, we have a side profile (meaning that there is a mini-profile on the left side of your posts) and a top profile (meaning there is a top bar that is also a mini-profile that stays on the top of your posts). Having both of these means there is also going to be a lot of fields to fill in, but it's not as daunting as it seems; trust me ^^

In order to get to the page that'll let you edit your profile, you need to click your name on the sidebar on your left. It'll take you straight to your profile page. There, right across your avatar, you will see three buttons. The first one should be a pencil, which is what you want to click in order to get to editing your profile. From there, if you're familiar to proboards, you should know what to do. If not, just click the second box that says personal.

The first six are your regular stats areas. You want to fill these out accordingly. The next three are related to you. You want to fill this out with your alias, age and time zone. After that, you have eight fields for your character. If you've read all of our other guides, you should have a good handle on what goes here. If you have any questions, feel free to contact staff via PM or in the cbox!

After that should be two large squares. This is the area for your characters appearance and personality. Here you must put their appearance and personality (each 6 or more sentences) and anything else you would like to include in it. Please make sure to indicate what your characters ambience is when you fill out appearance.

Once you've completed your profile (which is where all your characters information goes) you need to head on over to the character pages. This is where you will get accepted. You need copy the template provided and create a new thread with your characters name (i.e. Kalyani). Paste the template into the box and fill it out 100 percent. Tag either @admin or @asahi so that a staff member goes over it. If there are issues with the profile, staff will PM you with them so that you may fix them. If there aren't, they will post saying that your application has been accepted.

That very same thread is going to be used for tracking all of your information. That means you need to make another post after that with your characters account for your stats log, magic log, experience log, and mana log. Staff WILL NOT be keeping up with this for you.

How do I track everything?

Staff has provided all members a premade template with the basic amount of coding to help you track everything. You can change this up however you like, but it gives you an idea of how things need to be tracked. The template is located here.

Making your character

For a more in depth look on how to create your character, look [a href="http://primalminds.proboards.com/page/character-creation"]here[/a]!

Plotting and Threading

Here on Primal Minds, we run by a "new topic per thread" system. This means that every time you want to thread, you can make a new topic in the board you would like to roleplay in. The set word count for the site is just one paragraph made up of at least fix sentences, and make them good, descriptive sentences. If you are in a thread with another person, or other people, try to match your post length with who you're roleplaying with. As well as matching, it's good to keep track of the posting order in which your thread goes by. For example:

Person 1: posts
Person 2: posts
Person 1: posts again

If there are more than two people in a thread, the posting order is still in place so make sure to follow it ^^ Now, in the case that the person, or people, you are rping with has set up an absence notice and is gone for a few days, there is a chance that CAN skip said person in that thread but only after three days of the other person's absence are you allowed to do this. (refer to the rules for more information.)

As for plotting, we have a designated board called Shipping for that. This is where you can make your own thread featuring your character and even reply to other member's threads to get some plot stories going!

Group-making

Here on Primal Minds, we have groups named Tribes. Tribes can be created and lead by anyone, no matter their species, but they must be over two years old. For a full explanation on groups, look here. As for ranks and such, there are no specific ranks for each tier of the tribe. However, if you'd like to add in your own ranks (ranks you have thought up) then make sure to ask staff for permission before you do.

Graphics and Tables

Most roleplayers use tables for posting, these just make the post look pretty and polished. However there are those who don't use them and don't like to, this is completely okay! You don't have to do something if you don't want to ^^ We already have a few onsite codes that are free to use (only on PM), but most codes for tables can be found on resource sites like Adoxography and WickedWonderLand.

For Graphics, we have our own artist on site (poke Kaili if you'd like one, or post in her shop and request some) but if she gets overbooked or you're desperate, there are more resource sites like Shadowplay and Fall of an Empire, as well as the two mentioned before.
